In the beginning

A street guide to becoming rich.

Hello!

Welcome to my first post. I must say it’s a great privilege to have you here.

This site is all about how to be successful, and more specifically, how to get rich.

There are a lot of people out there claiming to have found the secrets to success, but what information is relevant?

Which techniques are working and which ones should you avoid?

What methods or tools can you apply to your own life in order to accelerate your success?

And ultimately, does any of it work?

That’s what I’m here to find out.

I intend to seek out and apply all those suggested methods for getting rich – as recommended by the experts – and then evaluate them on my site.

The results will speak for themselves.

If they work, then you are here; reading this now.

You’ve been looking for success, and I’ve found something of value that I can share.

I’ve never done anything like this before, which helps keep the experiment true.

I have no special advantage or knowledge.

I’m starting at rock bottom, from scratch, in rags, learning as I go, and hoping to get well ahead.

My goal is success itself.

I want to take this blog from strength to strength, to enhance it, and watch it grow, –

Why?

Because, I hope to inspire you, and I will.

If i can achieve my dream, then I can help you to achieve yours.

I am simply The Man in Rags, your common, average, everyday bum.

The difference is that today I change my mindset. Now I have a mission to fulfill.

I teach – for all of us struggling to live a life free from the burden of money,

(and there are a lot of us) – the street guide to getting rich.

That’s what motivates me to put in everything that I have. The idea that I can show you how to succeed.

I will prove it by doing it myself, and show that success can be learned and that there are techniques to getting rich, that work.

Decide what you want, then live it. We are all capable of reaching our highest goals and achieving our most cherished dreams.

That is my philosophy, and this site will help me to prove its truth.

You are here

So lets confirm, where are we?

Because you can’t look to where you are going if you don’t know where you start.

On any map with a destination it’s important to know the point where we depart.

Here is a graph of this weeks performance, and as you can see, if you were to rate my progress on the journey so far, I’ve hardly opened the door.

The journey has begun.
The man in rags progress report 1.

A picture tells a thousand words, and from this graph we can see that on april 21st I had 3 visitors to my site.
Thats right, 3 amazing visitors!

2 of them left after their first look, but that’s alright, since I had barely any content up, (literally none) I can forgive them entirely for that.
Thank you to those 3 wonderful people, I love everyone of you.

The next goal now is a ten times increase, 30 visits in a day.

If you are wondering if three people can really make any kind of difference, I suggest you take a look at this short video (3 minutes) from Derek Sivers about the importance of first followers, and the dynamics of creating movements.

Derek Sivers is someone whom I hold in great esteem. He is a mentor of mine, even though he doesn’t know it, or me, yet.

Derek started his own company, CD baby, in 1997 and sold it 11 years later for $22 million, so he knows first hand how to become rich. He has graciously written a book about his success and how others might hope to find it. He has developed his own website where he also offers brilliant tips for getting rich and finding supreme work/life balance. He will be one of the resources I will continue to refer to on this journey to getting rich.

You can find Derek’s excellent book here (it currently has a rating of 4.7 stars out of 5), and his website here, I totally recommend getting lost in it.

This is a good time to point out that this is how I make money, which is the entire point of this site, right?

My goal is to be successful, and having a site that pays for itself is a form of that success.

If I recommend a product on this site and you purchase it then I’m entitled to a commission. The product won’t cost you any more, (in fact, it is my hope that over time I can find you discounts) and I won’t recommend anything that hasn’t worked personally for myself.

Every one who comes to this site has my sincerest thanks, and the promise that I dedicate myself to finding value for you.

I embrace you as a fellow traveler on this journey to a richer life and, I ask of you this question, “Just how rich can you get?”

If you would like to comment,- for history’s sake – as one of the original “The Man in Rags First Followers” please take your chance now, before it’s too late. Secure your bragging rights early because who knows when I’ll be overrun with huge success 🙂

Don’t hesitate to rescue me from being the lone nut, become a nut yourself!

And to anyone who does have the courage to contribute, a very warm welcome to you, and thank you for playing your part.

With love,

tMiR.

Women can get rich too!

Hello Julio, fantastic to have you here! It’s good to hold on to a little bit of crazy. When everyone else is doubting, that’s the spark that helps us to achieve dreams. No matter what happens, you’ll always be my number 1 🙂

So I guess I’m the number 2 nut and royal runner-up to your number 1! 🙂
Love the honesty. Nothing like baring it all to a bunch of strangers. But that’s how trust is built right?.
I’m cheering for you to get those 30 visitors soonest! And I’m looking forward to learning anything and everything you will be sharing about success and the steps to get there.

Hello Yemi, love your comment. That’s just the kind of feedback that gets me motivated to roll up my sleeves even more. Thanks for your inspiration 🙂

    Hi,

Great first post! It looks like we have the same goals. I’m just about to go part time at work (end of next week) so I can focus on my website(s). It is going to take a long time, but at least I will be my on boss.

    Good luck!

Hell Yeah! That’s fantastic Tom. I’m so happy for you!

To have a lot of money is definitely a nice form of being rich, but to live our lives in the way we enjoy, need, and want, that is an altogether higher form in my opinion. To live your life following your passion gives your life a real and lasting value that brings true satisfaction. I salute you Tom. Good luck and congratulations!

Great motivation in following your dreams and for being on the fringe. This is a fantastic way of getting your message out and I hope you succeed in reaching 30 by the end of the month. And continue to grow after that! Looking forward to seeing your progress and maybe incorporating some of your ideas into my own work. Just curious, were you the shirtless guy?

    • The Man in Rags Post authorReply

Hello Sanders, I wish I could say I was the shirtless guy, but unfortunately, I just don’t have that kind of rhythm. Thanks so much for your comment and for visiting. Nothing would make me happier than to hear that you’ve found success because of something you gleaned from this site. I appreciate your support, it helps provide me with extra motivation. Great to have you along for the ride.

Hi, I’m looking forward to seeing how your experiment evolves.

I do agree that mindset can make a huge difference and I hope you can find lots of extra ideas that the rest of us can all put into practice to actually make some money doing something that is worthwhile and helpful for other people.

I love the Dancing Guy video. 🙂

    Good luck!

Hi Julia, I’m hoping too, that I can find you some ideas of real interest.

Thank you for your feedback. Great to have you along for the ride 🙂

Your motivation is appreciated, stepping out into your dream is daring. Success only come by trying. Failure come by not putting in an effort. DR Myles Munrue wrote that the wealthiest place on earth is the grave yard. It is full of unfulfilled unpursued dreams. Thank you for your encouraging post.

Hi Herman, I love that quote! I’ve never heard of Dr Myles Munrue before, but he sounds exactly like the kind of teacher that can give me some good advice. I’m interested in finding out more about him. Thank you very much for your post 🙂

    Hello

I can’t help to think about your positive mindset when I was reading your article. I like your realness and the positive goal setting of reaching more those 3 people who last visited your website. I believe really need to read more articles like yours, simply because of its truth. I like that fact that you are showing people just because something doesn’t look good at first doesn’t mean your dream is over. I haven’t read any of Derek Siver books but it sounds like one book I will be adding to my bookshelf. Overall I’m looking forward in hearing your updated success story.

    Thanks for great article.

Hello Anthony, thank you for commenting. I always get inspired by my readers kind and thoughtful words.

I’ll be doing my best to get success, and when I find it, then I can show the way. I hope to have many articles on my victories to share with you real soon.

      Great to have you here.
