Women can get rich too!

O.K.

It’s time to confront the elephant in the room wearing the leopard print dress.

Yep, I know what you’ve been thinking. It’s on everybody’s mind.

“The picture up above sure does look like a woman, Mr ‘Man’ in Rags, so what gives?  Are you some kind of graceful princess, or, a hairy bum from the streets?” *

Alright, I must confess. That lady up above is not me.

It is a picture I found when I was looking for some graphics that I thought would fit in well with my site. As soon as I saw it it appealed to me.

Why?

Because, firstly, It has a sense of purpose.

There is intent on her behalf to stride determinedly through the gate. She will pass through that opening in the wall and emerge into an abundant green garden on the other side.

To me, it seems that she might be entering into a paradise. It is a perfect reflection of my own ambitions for this site and the transition I want to make in my life.

Secondly, I liked her dress. It too seemed to “fit”.

It’s a simple garment, nothing more than a printed rag, and yet, her beauty shines naturally through it.

The idea is that, it doesn’t matter what we are wearing on the outside, it is what we possess on the inside, in our mind and in our heart, that counts. Who we are in our innermost being is what communicates with the rest of the world.

We can change the calibre of our thinking. As we move through that gateway and become more radiant our robes will take on a greater value of their own.

The significance of the garment’s leopard skin print escaped me until some weeks after I had chosen the image itself, though, I am sure it had been registering with me on some subconscious level over that time.

Like the leopard with its spots, it is not the environment that we must change. To grow we must change ourselves.

However, unlike the proverb about the leopard, we can change our spots and we do it by changing the way we think.

We meet the challenge, we take the step, we are the ones who walk forward.

Thirdly; the thing that appealed to me is that, she is a woman.

And that helps to make things clear; that, although this site is called The Man in Rags, the rules for success apply equally here as much to woman as any man.

There is nothing in here that cannot be achieved by anyone, regardless of gender.

Previously, the world favoured braun. Those endowed with the best suited physical attributes were generally best served. The arrival of the internet has altered the rules of the game and now mind has taken the advantage and ideas are the currency of the new world. The pendulum has swung back to brains, and that has leveled the playing field in woman’s favour. It’s no longer just a man’s game.

It is the quality of your thoughts, the richness and the purity of the vein, that will determine your success.

Dream of your greatest achievements, fantasize about endless possibilities, imagine your finest glories, and envisage your happiest moments.

Now, set yourself to bringing them here, to life.

Because in this digital age that we live in, dreams can come true, and perhaps more than ever before…

women can get rich too!

* I will post a picture of myself at a later date, when I can find the right light. If you want to discover just what kind of beast the man in rags is, stay tuned.

You’ve got a very interesting post here.

Very inspiring and very true! You’re right, becoming rich knows no gender. What a man can do, a woman can do as well, sometimes better.

Our life should have a sense of purpose, no doubt. And for us to be successful, we have to overcome obstacles, face the challenges, and act fast! But plans need to be laid out clearly.

Lastly, I would say that the lady in your post looks very much ready to see greener pastures and of course she has to be open to all possibilities and challenges.

Good luck on your journey; your positive outlook and daring personality will surely bring you to where you want to be.

    Continue to inspire others.

Thanks Marita. I’d love to inspire someone else enough that they took up the courage to follow their dreams. That would be amazing. You’ve put a big smile on my face with your comment, and got me feeling great. I appreciate it. You make the world a richer place 🙂

Hi, thanks for this article! I like the point you make about how the internet has changed our perceptions of importance and power; where it used to be solely dependent on sheer physical power to gain success it is now dependent on mental power, something which is more equal between genders! I hadn’t thought of it in this way.

Hi Danny, great to have you here. I’m glad you picked up on the point about the transition from physical prowess to mental acuity. In my opinion we are just at the beginning of a new age where abstract concepts themselves will be available for trade, perhaps cryptocurrencies are, in some way, a forerunner to that.

I really enjoyed this post. In the past it really was a man’s world. However in modern times it is now a world of what we make it. There are many very successful women. I know that first impressions are very important. There is more to this world than meets the eye. The only way we can change the world is by first changing ourselves. No one can change you only yourself. Once we figure out that we can not change others we will be able to conquer our own obstacles and fulfill our own dreams. It requires wanting to change to make a difference. As well as fulfilling the desire to make the change. Thank You.

Hi Sherry, thank you for your comment. I agree with everything you say, especially the part about us wanting to change, because it’s a lot easier thing to say than to do. Changing requires us to get out of our comfort zone, which by it’s very definition is uncomfortable! If we can push ourselves to take on challenges that are truly confronting that’s when we develop and we grow. I hope you can come back to visit again soon with you own story of well deserved success!

Interesting title! Of course, women can get rich, too. But the larger question is how can they get rich and at what cost. A man, with the right woman, can pour his life into work while his wife takes care of the homefront. That’s the traditional model of the nuclear family.

However, women have to make a choice: great career or great family. That rarely can have both. If a woman wants to get rich, she is not likely going to have much of a family. It’s possible but rare.

The culture should make this dilemma more clear for women because they continually believe the fantasy that they can have it all.

Hello Peter, you raise an interesting point about what is is to be rich. We can have all the money in the world, BUT, if we can’t be with the ones we love, where and when we want to be, then that is not rich. I would say that is being a slave to money. Finding a balance in our life commitments that is both pleasing and satisfying to us, and that more than fulfills all our needs, is a better definition of being rich, in my opinion. Fortunately, with the rise of the internet and the ability to work from home, this balance can be more realistically achieved. While I agree it’s not easy, I firmly believe that it is possible, and for those who make it, a chance to enjoy the ultimate expression of freedom.

Thank you so much for commenting, great to have you here!
